Haley, Johny, and Yeji are so passionate about supporting the North Korean people that they traveled from all different parts of the world to join us at HQ as CalWest Nomads. They’ll be putting their passion to use this spring as they travel the golden state, sharing the stories of the North Korean people and inspiring Californians to stand with them as they drive changes in their country. They will also introduce our exciting new initiative to give people from ever corner of the Earth the opportunity to send a personal message of support to the North Korean people. Keep reading to get to know Haley, Johny, and Yeji a little better:
Haley resides in Vancouver, Canada, where she recently completed a bachelor’s degree in international studies. She became inspired by the North Korean people after reading and listening to the stories of refugees like Yeonmi Park and Joseph Kim. As a CalWest Nomad, she hopes to inspire others to stand alongside the North Korean people. Haley loves cooking and eating Korean food; her favorites are kimbap, japchae, and of course kimchi!
Johny is from the UK, but moved around quite a bit growing up. He has been living in France for the last eight years, where he graduated in languages and international relations from the University of Bordeaux. He first heard about LiNK after stumbling upon Yeonmi’s story and how she escaped North Korea. He was inspired by her struggles and decided to become a Nomad. Johny loves traveling, belting out new jams, and is always excited for adventure!
Yeji previously worked for an international NGO and refugee center in South Korea where she fostered a passion for the North Korean people. A graduate of Ewha Womans University, Yeji likes IPAs, 70s Motown music, stand-up comedy, and North Korean friends. Her dream is for there to be peace and prosperity in the Korean peninsula.
Add your voice to our collective message of support to the North Korean people this spring.
