What are some of the most effective initiatives that you have taken to spread information about the crisis in North Korea and gain new members?

At the beginning on the semester (if you are in college,) there are usually club fairs or tables that organizations can rent out. If you have this at your school I would highly suggest bringing candy, a board with your information, some LiNK information cards, and a computer with a sign up list for email updates and more information.

We also did a bowling event and gained over 40 people on our email list! We are not known very well at our university unless it’s Korean students or other foreign groups, so this worked really, really well!!!

Hey!

I know getting new members can be one of the hardest things for a club. I experienced the same issue with my rescue team before leaving for the internship, but I have two ways I used to combat that:

FOOD! Free food always helps getting people interested. Even though it may not be something that relates to the crisis in North Korea, people tend to come to any event that involves free food. That can get them to attend and listen.
In-class presentations: In-class presentations are a great way to spread information about the crisis in North Korea. Ask a professor for 15-30 minutes of their class time to give a presentation. This makes it easier to have an audience, since the students are already there. Make sure to have handouts and a way for students to contact you later if they have questions!
