Choose someone at the beginning of your presidency to keep an eye on. Also, pay attention to general members who have been active all year. Even if they did not hold an officer position this year does not mean they won’t make a great president next year.
Throughout the semester, go out to lunch or get coffee and talk 1-on-1 about how they would feel about taking over. See their workload and give them an accurate day-to-day outlook on what it’s like as a Rescue Team President. Answer any questions they have. Make sure to do this a few months BEFORE you leave, so if they agree they have time to prepare. If they say that the workload will be too much, then repeat the same process with another member.
