Dani, Kyle, and Drake are preparing to travel along the West Coast as our Pacific Northwest Nomads this fall. They can’t wait to share new stories from our North Korean friends and give our supporters fresh, exciting ways to get involved. We hope you get a chance to meet them on our People Can Tour, but in the mean time take a moment to read why they were inspired to get involved:
Dani is from Northern California and decided to be a Nomad out of a life-long love for culture, travel, and activism. Dani is a lover and learner of language and is currently studying Swahili. If she could have a superpower, it would be teleportation so she could make weekend trips to new countries and be back in time for a Monday morning meeting.
Kyle is a fun loving-fellow from Exeter, California. He decided to take up the cause for the North Korean people after he read stories about the situation in their country. He felt like he could identify with them, and propelled by his faith, he moved to act. At this time his most unique feature—aside from his personality— is his beard. If he was a superhero, he would love to be able to control the space-time continuum like Hiro from the TV show Heroes.
Drake is from California’s Central Valley. He learned about LiNK through his Korean class in high school. The students hosted a couple of events and even started a Rescue Team. Talking to the Nomads made him realize that he wanted to devote his time to supporting the North Korean people. In high school, he participated in Odyssey of the Mind, a creative problem-solving competition, and went to the World Finals.
