After escaping from North Korea, Jung Ha’s mother was sold off three times as a bride under the pretense that she was going to be given a job. With the last husband, Jung Ha was born. Even under these circumstances, Jung Ha lived a happy life in China. She attended school and was well cared for. Yet, her mother knew there was a better life waiting for them in South Korea. Jung Ha and her mother escaped China together through LiNK’s network.
Her mother, who was a performer in North Korea and very active in the arts, has big plans for Jung Ha. She wants to put her in lessons for traditional Korean dance after they resettle in South Korea. She can also see Jung Ha becoming a painter, especially after seeing her interest in drawing. Jung Ha’s favorite things to draw are people (particularly ladies in beautiful dresses), big houses, and hearts. Aside from drawing, she loves to dance with people by holding their hands and whirling them around! Jung Ha can only speak Chinese right now, but her mother is slowly teaching her Korean to prepare for her new life in South Korea; so far, she can say “mom” and “thank you.”
Thank you for helping supply the funds for Jung Ha’s rescue. Your efforts have changed her life and have provided the opportunity for her to enjoy her new LIBERTY.
