BRAINSTORMING BONANZA!

This meeting is all about generating as many new ideas as possible and freshening up your fundraisers and events. Let’s get creative!

STEP 1 | CONNECT

Get to know your fellow Rescue Team members!

Ask fun questions or play an icebreaker game to make everyone feel welcome.
Download the sign-up sheet to take attendance and get the contact information for new members.

STEP 2 | WARM UP

Play the word association game (with a twist).

Name a word, the person sitting next to you says the first word he or she associates with the word. Repeat until it is your turn again. List the first and the last word in the chain and work together to think of a logical scenario connecting the two.

STEP 3 | REVIEW GOALS

Remind your team of your goal for the term and how much you’ve raised so far.

Make sure everyone is on the same page about what goal you are trying to reach! Identify the purpose of your brainstorming session.

STEP 4 | START BRAINSTORMING

Answer questions about North Korea, LiNK, and your Rescue Team

Give each person butcher paper and markers. For five minutes have everyone draw out ideas— no words, no talking. After that have people spend another five minutes just writing down ideas. Once the ten minutes are up, people can present their ideas. Have a member write down everyone’s ideas in a list. Don’t give input or pass judgement on these ideas yet, unless one person’s idea reminds you of another idea that you can share.

Tip: In brainstorming, it’s all about the quantity of ideas, not the quality. Don’t focus on coming up with one great idea, just list anything that comes to mind.

STEP 5 | ROTATE

Have everyone in the room move around and switch seats to keep those creative juices flowing.

STEP 6 | OPPOSITES

Work as a team to come up with the worst ideas possible. What is the opposite of what you want? What are the characteristics of a terrible event? Use those ideas to come up with new ideas about how to plan a great event!

STEP 7 | TAKE STOCK

Look over all of the ideas you have generated so far.

Start talking them out in more detail and discussing which ones are your favorite. Think about combining ideas and narrowing your list. Use a vote to choose a few tentative ideas which everyone can work on developing for the next meeting!
