Seung Ha’s first thoughts of escape began when her parents discouraged her dreams to study singing and the arts. They told her the only goal she needed to focus on was marrying well. Desiring the freedom to choose her own path, she escaped to China.
Seung Ha was fortunate to have family in China who took her in. Atypical for a North Korean, she was able to pose as a South Korean without arousing suspicion. Seung Ha lived comfortably in China for several years and even had a boyfriend. However, her opportunities for a future were limited because she lacked legal documents. To pursue her dreams, she left her boyfriend and family behind.
Now, she’s not sure whether she will return to China after she receives proper documents, or whether she will stay in South Korea and make a new life. One thing is for sure—she’s not afraid. Seung Ha has hope for the future and looks forward to rekindling her dreams.
Thank you for helping supply the funds for Seung Ha’s rescue. Your efforts have changed her life and have provided the opportunity for her to enjoy her new LIBERTY.
