30 days ago we launched SHIFT, a campaign to change public perception on North Korea and raise funds to help grow our programs that are significantly impacting the lives of North Korean refugees. We have been inspired by the response of our SHIFT fundraisers, the goals they have set, and the creativity they are using to reach their goals. We want to introduce you to some of LiNK’s youngest fundraisers ever!
The Roberts family was recently exposed to the plight of the North Korean people and their children were moved to action. Each week their two kids have given up their allowances, and have been making crafts and other homemade goodies to sell during their lunch break at school. Each week, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts are matching the amount of money their children earn. While they sell their wares, they are also telling others about North Korea and the refugees they are working to help rescue.
The Roberts boys are trying to raise $5,000 through their goodie table in the school cafeteria (no small feat), so let’s help them out!
As of Nov 2, 2012

Here’s what the Roberts have to say about LiNK’s supporters and their donors:
“My children were looking at North Korea and realizing how far away we are from there. We looked at the Tumen River and discussed that this is an area where refugees will cross into China. They commented that they are so thankful that we can help people who are so far away from us geographically. Then we noticed that one of the donors on their fundraising page is from Australia. So this sparked an idea….we printed maps of the US and of the world and are placing a star on each state/country that a donor is from who contributes through their fundraising page.
Thank you to all of those who have been inspired by our family’s efforts to help North Korean refugees and have contributed through our fundraising page. Our children are inspired by your generosity and heart to help rescue refugees. They are working hard on their crafts and love sharing with their friends about the North Korean people. It is truly amazing that their weekly earnings combined with your generous donations already have us nearly half way to rescuing a refugee!”

Help by making a $5 donation or more to help the Roberts children reach their goal! (Make sure to put down where you’re from for their maps!)
