Eun Hae escaped to China at the age of 19 with the hopes of sending money and food back home to her family in North Korea. Her family was poor and she wanted to help provide for them.
In China, she was able to find shelter but perpetually feared being caught by the police or a trafficker. One day, shortly after her escape, Eun Hae received an anonymous phone call from a woman who claimed to be her mother. Her voice, however, was not familiar, causing Eun Hae great alarm. In China, the secret police will go to great lengths to find and repatriate North Korean refugees.
Fearing she had been compromised and knowing what would happen to her if she stayed, Eun Hae immediately left the shelter and remained on the move.
Then Eun Hae met LiNK. We offered her a chance to escape China so that she would no longer have to live in fear.
Eun Hae was rescued by LiNK out of hiding in China and is now resettled in the United States.
THANK YOU FOR CHANGING EUN HAE’S LIFE AND PROVIDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR HER TO ENJOY THIS NEW LIBERTY.
