Da Eun always wanted a big family, but she and her husband couldn’t afford to have children in North Korea. Her husband was an unpaid government worker, so they had to scrape by on whatever money she could make selling housewares in the market.
Never earning more than what they could barely survive on, Da Eun and her husband realized there was no life for them in North Korea and they decided to escape.
On the day of their escape, they hiked through steep mountains, being careful to avoid North Korean soldiers looking for firewood, until they reached the Tumen River. After crossing into China, they wandered through the border towns for hours until they found a house where they could pay for some hot food and make a phone call. Their contact picked them up soon after and guided them out of China to safety in Southeast Asia.
Now, Da Eun looks forward to realizing her dream of having a family with her husband, and also wants to start her own retail business.
Thank you for helping supply the funds for Da Eun’s rescue. Your efforts have changed her life and have provided the opportunity for her to enjoy her new LIBERTY.
