North Korean Refugee Stories: Meet In Ae

Only a young child when she escaped, In Ae does not know much about her homeland. One of her only memories of that time is of holding her sister’s hand when they made the journey out of North Korea, unaware that she would never return.
It’s been over five years since In Ae became a South Korean citizen. She is currently in high school and has many friends.
In the future, In Ae wants to become a therapist. She says her journey hasn’t been easy, but her therapist has encouraged her and helped her gain confidence. She wants to offer the same support to those with similar experiences.
