A Calwest Nomad
Serendipity has been a recurring theme on this tour so far. I personally wouldn’t be here right now had I not happened to click “like” on LiNK’s Facebook page, a split-second decision I can’t even remember, but which eventually propelled me halfway around the world to make a significant impact on one of the most pressing issues of our time.
My teammates and I have made so many meaningful connections because of chance occurrences. At the California Republican Party Convention, we happened to meet a woman who was a member of the Jewish Community Center we were due to present at the following Monday. Although she was unaware of LiNK before that encounter, a few days later we were presenting at her synagogue and staying at her house! We also met a man who was so taken with our cause that he took us on a whirlwind tour of San Francisco the next weekend, followed by curry and ice cream sundaes! He owns an international security company and is really passionate about getting involved with LiNK.
These are the kinds of connections LiNK’s tours are all about. We are inspiring people who then pass this inspiration to others like branches on an evergrowing tree, expanding the movement exponentially and building worldwide support for the North Korean people. The strength of the connections we are making is only matched (or rather, exceeded) by the strength and resilience of the North Korean people.
The fact that these chance meetings and coincidental encounters bolster such a strong global community of supporters for the North Korean people drives home the craziness of life, and the necessity and value of standing together as human beings to overcome the challenges thrown at us by the universe.
