The Director of Development will build and manage a diverse US-based donor solicitation and cultivation program focused on individual, foundation, and online donors. This individual will work out of our HQ office located in Long Beach, California. Goals for donor engagement, financial revenue, and other metrics will be established and reported.
You will oversee LiNK’s direct mail, major donor, and foundation solicitation programs, and will maintain a personal donor relationship program. You’ll be expected to spend significant time and effort personally meeting with current and potential donors. You will manage these activities on a general level and ensure monitoring and reporting systems are in place. You will oversee and ensure fundraising programs are conducted within the overall strategy of the organization.
Work with CEO to prepare annual development goals and monitor revenues. Prepare and administer department budget, projecting and achieving revenue goals
Oversee the creation and expansion of an overall strategy for growing individual major gifts from constituents nationally. Develop and implement a strategic plan for increasing private donor support, including contact with current donors and prospective donors.
Develop a major giving program aimed at identifying major donors, fostering relationships, and soliciting gifts
Develop and manage a successful and ambitious online giving and monthly donor program to grow and diversify the organization’s donor base
Oversee efforts of development staff in areas including but not limited to: special events, foundation support, major and planned gifts, and online and direct mail fundraising
Prepare periodic analysis of the progress, effectiveness, and efficiency of various development programs and systems, identifying problems in meeting objectives and recommending solutions
Create innovative ways to show donors their return on investment and impact
Experience in hiring, training and supervising staff
Successful track record in individual and major giving, demonstrated success in major donor cultivation and solicitation
Knowledge of financial management to allocate resources, prepare budgets, analyze financial data and project fundraising income
Positive attitude and ability to inspire confidence in your team and organization supporters
Ability to work effectively under constant pressure deadlines; requires excellent organizational skills, time management efficiency, and careful attention to detail
Effective and compelling written and oral communication skills
Experience with Salesforce
Willingness to travel frequently
Experience & Education
College degree and a minimum of 5 years experience professional fundraising, with a minimum of 2 years experience leading a fundraising department
