Meet Missy! She’s just one of over 1000 fundraisers who stepped up to support the North Korean people during our last campaign. Missy raised $750 for Refugee Rescues, enough to provide transportation and basic needs to a refugee on their journey to freedom. As part of our fundraiser spotlight series, we asked her a few questions about how she got involved and what tips she has for those looking to start their own fundraising pages.
The incredibly passionate and inspirational Northeast Nomads visited my school, Duquesne University, and gave a presentation on Liberty in North Korea. Their presentation enlightened me on the severity of the societal disparity and everyday danger the North Korean people are facing and sparked a desire in me to do something. The Nomads were so cool that I wanted to hop in their van with them and help spread the word!
I utilize my Facebook page to spread awareness and to post my fundraising page link. Also, I send emails to my friends and family to share what I have learned from the Northeast Nomads and to tell them that if they’re looking to donate to a wonderful non-profit organization then they can call off the search; LiNK is the one!
You are inspirational, and you are loved. You bring so much hope and light to this world. Never stop fighting!
They can’t do it alone. The refugees need funds for basic needs, like food and clothing, as well as for transportation and resettlement assistance. The North Korean people do not have fundamental rights like I do in the United States. Their liberty has been unrightfully stripped from them. They need our help to achieve freedom and to live a life of health and happiness.
You can still fundraise to help us bring 200 North Korean refugees to freedom. Start your fundraising page!
