ABOUT

We’re super excited to invite you to Summit!
This two-day event will bring together students and North Korean millennials to create solutions for the future.
We grew up in an era of seemingly limitless opportunities offered by the Internet and an idealism driven by a new level of consciousness about global issues. This gives many of us the ability to share resources and ideas for finding solutions to the challenges of others.
Our counterparts, the millennials inside North Korea, grew up in a new North Korea. Following the collapse of the state-led economy and a massive famine in the 1990s, society underwent a fundamental restructuring that transformed the way North Korean millennials see their situation. Their relationship with the regime, their attitudes and values, their behaviours, and even their dreams and ambitions are vastly different than their parents. They are driving changes inside North Korea that are leading to an irreversible transformation.
At Summit, you’ll have the opportunity to share knowledge and work with our North Korean peers on this issue. There will be sessions with a variety of awesome speakers from North Korean millennials like Joseph Kim, Yeonmi Park, and Joo Yang to experts on the issue like Hannah Song and Sokeel Park. You’ll also enjoy a private concert with Run River North and David Choi, plus a special performance by Simon and Martina of Eat Your Kimchi.
Summit will take place at
Pepperdine University /
Malibu, California.

We totally understand that $200 + airfare may seem like a big chunk of change, but once you get here it’ll all be worth it. You have friends and family who support you and your passion for this issue—in the age of the Internet, it’s easier than ever to ask them for help. Lighten the financial burden by using a personal fundraising platform like GoFundMe to raise money to cover the cost of your trip.
