Brian was caught by the Chinese authorities shortly after escaping North Korea. He was thrown in a Chinese prison where he was severely beaten for two weeks, but he avoided repatriation when LiNK paid for his release. Since resettling, Brian started attending university, got married, and now he and his wife are expecting their first baby.
Since resettling in South Korea, Hye Won participated in our Study Abroad & Career Development and our English Teaching & Cultural Exchange programs to improve her English, explore career opportunities, and learn about new cultures. She was also recently accepted to a prestigious university thanks to her strong commitment to her studies.
Min Ji almost died of malnourishment and starvation in North Korea. Now she lives with a loving foster family and is growing healthier each day. She even grew 4 inches in 4 months!
Min Sung participated in our Study Abroad & Career Development Program, where he shadowed career mentors and took intensive English classes in San Francisco. In 2014, he started attending university for engineering and was reunited with his cousin.
Joo Yang visited San Francisco for the first time as part of our Study Abroad & Career Development Program. She had the opportunity to meet with people from different backgrounds, take classes to improve her English, and volunteer.
